Our Rules

The CAC Arbitration Rules provide for a flexible, speedy and efficient procedure for resolving all commercial or economic disputes of a national or international nature through arbitration. Parties to a dispute shall be bound by the provisions of the present Rules by signing an arbitration clause nominating CAC as the arbitration institution.

CAC Panel/List of Arbitrators

The CAC Panel/List of Arbitrators consists of arbitrators from India and abroad. The aim of the Panel/List is to provide the CAC Secretariat with a searchable source. To register for inclusion on the CAC Panel/List of Arbitrators, please contact us. Please kindly note that registration on the Panel/List is for information purpose only; it does not guarantee appointment as an arbitrator.

Code of Ethics for Arbitrators

The CAC Rules of Ethics for Arbitrators provide ethical guidelines for the CAC Arbitrator so that he or she conducts his or her arbitrator's mission efficiently, observing the principles of fairness, neutrality, and confidentiality.

OBJECTIVIES

To encourage and bring about amicable settlement of spites arising in the course of domestic and international commercial transactions and trade by mediation or conciliation or otherwise;

To promulgate and disseminate the idea of alternate dispute resolution modes including arbitration in resolving commercial disputes arising in Domestic and international trade among commercial and trading parties;

To encourage the use of mediation clauses, arbitration clauses, and med-arb clauses in domestic and international business and trade contracts and agreement and to draw up standard arbitration clauses, model rules of arbitration procedure, etc;

To provide Free legal aid and services to the indigent persons with respect to arbitration proceedings and process as per rules framed by the society;

To arbitrate and / or arrange for arbitration / mediation /conciliation for the parties who referred their commercial disputes to the CHENNAI ARBITRATION CENTRE as per the rules framed by the CHENNAI ARBITRATION CENTRE within the scope of Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 as amended and other statutory provisions;

To arbitrate and / or arrange for arbitration /mediation / conciliation for the matters referred by the Courts to the CHENNAI ARBITRATION CENTRE to resolve the Commercial disputes referred to the CHENNAI ARBITRATION CENTRE as per the rules framed by the CHENNAI ARBITRATION CENTRE within the scope of referral made and within the scope of Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 as amended and other statutory provision;

To disseminate information and education material concerning arbitration process and laws, rules or procedures, techniques, and facilities, international conventions, etc. On arbitration matters;

To conduct training programs, workshops, seminars in arbitration and meditation and to conduct assessment of the arbitrators who trained and to certify the arbitrators who had obtained the skills required for qualified arbitrator;

To retain panels of person who are certified by the CHENNAI ARBITRATION CENTRE to be appointed as arbitrators for the cases referred to the CHENNAI ARBITRATION CENTRE.

To work in partnership with national, international organizations and foreign arbitral bodies on matters touching on international commercial arbitration and to send delegations abroad and to invite representatives of such organizations and bodies for the purpose;

To prepare print and publish in papers periodicals, pamphlets, bulletins and brochures, information concerning arbitration, meditation and other Alternate dispute resolutions existing in India and abroad and other useful material in furtherance of the subject of the CHENNAI ARBITRATION CENTRE;

To engage trainees or investigators to study in India or abroad about the problems, methods and techniques in regard to arbitration;

To offer facilities for the training of personnel in the techniques of arbitratin, offer and arrange fellowships, furnish experts competent to advise on arbitration legislation and procedures, organize seminars and study groups, on legal and practical problems, relating to arbitral legistation procedures and organize coursesn and lectures on topics concerning arbitration;

To publish arbitral awards and judicial decisions pertaining to arbitration, research data and ration matters;

To furnish names of person, suitable for appointment asarbitrators and publish information concerning fees charged by various arbitration procedures;

To promote arbitration service agreements between India and other countries containing a provision for the adoption of joint clauses by various arbitration procedures;

To establish and maintain a reference library in pursuance of objects of the society with reading and writing, rooms and furnish the same with online database books reviews, magazines, newspaper and other publications on arbitration matters;

To promote research in field of law and alternate dispute resolutions.

To create and promote awareness on alternate dispute resolution modes among the domestic and international commercial trade industry general public and students.

To organize lectures, seminars, talk shows and convent conferences at such places and such times as may be determined in furtherance of the objects of the society;

To impose and recover, affiliation and other fees and charges for services rendered, to accept any grants donations, and subscriptions whether in cash or securities and of any property either movable or immovable in furtherance of the objects of the society;

To borrow and raise moneys with or without security or on the security or a mortgage charges, or hypothecation or pledge of all or any of the movable or immovable in furtherance of the objects of the in any other manner what so ever;

To acquire, purchases, take on lease or licenser otherwise acquire, any land or building or any other entities which may be necessary for carrying out the purposes of the society;

To sell lease, mortgage, exchange, hire and otherwise transfer or any properties of the society;

To undertake and accept the management of any endowment of trust fund having objects similar to the objects of the society.

To invest funds or moneys entrusted to the Society in some securities and in such manner as may from time to time be determined by it.
